today was my host mom’s birthday. good thing i FORGOT ABOUT IT. oops.
but i remembered just in time for the celebration, so i made her a card. if i’ve gained anything from living abroad for 6 months, it’s how to make a damn good birthday card.

today arrived a christmas box from my mom!
after two weeks of waiting, it finally arrived!!! (damn you correos chile!)

this is the first christmas in the history of my life where i have slept in. and i don’t like it! i don’t like it one bit! i’d much rather be jumping on my sister’s bed at 7 in the morning yelling at her that it’s christmas and THERE ARE PRESENTS TO BE OPENED!!!

wow. it’s 315 in the morning and i’m just now getting to bed. no, i didn’t go out partying tonight - i spent the evening with my family celebrating christmas! my first chilean christmas! here they celebrate on christmas eve! i went to mass with my family (no, i didn’t burst into flames when i walked into the church or when the priest doused me in holy water)

my day at the post office
so today (finally) i went with my host dad to the post office to mail 5 boxes of gifts to various friends and family members and a christmas card to my grandma. my dad parked on this street and told the dude working the ‘meters’ or whatever (in chile people just man certain streets, parking lots, what have you and use some device to keep track of how long you were parked there and then...

MY SOUTHERN CHILE ADVENTURE
here we go, folks.
it all started on november 24th hopping a plane from santiago to punta arenas. it was me, steph, liz, and another volunteer named kendra who is AWESOME.
steph of course was eating the world’s juiciest orange and made a huge mess. luckily we flew sky air and the plane was half full.. lots of leg room, holler.
