things are looking up folks! i just moved into my new apartment. i’ll be starting work next week. i’ve met a bunch of really cool, interesting, and nice people. i’m even starting to get used to the heat!!!!!

I haven’t been posting much recently because nothing too exciting has been going on in my life. But for people like my dad who look at my blog to find out what I’m up to, here’s an update!
I’m still doing classes at an institute called Anglia here in Antofagasta. I love it, and I keep getting more and more students, so more students = more money and I’m okay with that.
I’m going to start teaching conversation classes at another company called EF (Education First) that sends students all over the world to learn different languages (in this case they are Chileans who travel to different countries mostly to learn English). This company has schools all over the world (there’s one in Chicago!) and people pay good money to spend weeks / months / semesters / years going to their schools. I am going to give conversation classes there to former students (people who have studied abroad) and also to people who are preparing to go abroad. This way those who have already lived in a foreign country can continue practicing their English with a native speaker, and those who are preparing to go to a foreign country can get experience talking with a native. I make 12000 an hour there vs. only making 5500 an hour at Anglia, so it will be a nice “bonus” for me at the end of the month when I get paid.
Also, a guy who works at Anglia asked me if I would be interested in teaching some English class at some institute around here because his friend works there and told him they are looking for a native speaker to teach this 2 hour long class of like 10 Chileans or something. I don’t know many specifics but I’m jumping at any chance I can get to have more classes and make more money because Antofagasta is EXXXXPENSIVE.
AND, a new student that I had today asked if I would be interested in giving private lessons because she has a lot of friends who are interested in learning English so hopefully that could turn into some more possibilities for me!
This weekend is a holiday weekend because of Easter so I don’t have to work Friday or Saturday (yay no work, boo no money) so Friday night one of my friends’ boyfriends is playing in his band at some club so I’m going to go to that but the rest of the weekend I will spend in the apartment because I’m trying to save money.
